I am starting to get a bit excited with the silence from the company on when we can expect and update, and also the rapidly thinning volume of shares on the sell side

The good thing about the extended delay is the SP has recovered beautifully in the last few months despite the end of the exclusivity - it just means any offer that was going to be low ball before will now have to be a whole lot sweeter.
