definitely not linear
there was an entire discussion on that - about how stocks with strong balance sheet and good fcf have high correlation while poor balance sheets have lower correlation
but correlation is still +0.5
linear is 1:1 - every 1% move in oil drives 1% move in stock - almost not stock has that relationship.
