The new conveyor belts which link the smelters to the ports is currently being completed.
Press Metal has announced that the savings via the new conveyor belt system will save between US$8 to US$10/tonne which was previously trucked from Samalaju to Bintulu port and saving will be from Q2/2018 onwards. Savings of $5 million annually.
Savings for OM Sarawak would be in the order of US$2.5 to US$3 million for import of Mn ore,silica etc and export of finished product.
