Ah, the good old days in the bush, on the farm.

Sitting around the kitchen table, the lights would start to go dull and 12 year old son would be despatched to the machinery shed, to "start up the Lister." As long as it took him to walk over to the shed, we would watch the fading light until there would be the sound of a diesel generator being kicked into life and to the steady hum of the motor the lights would grow bright again and the batteries would charge up.

We knew how to live with off grid power supply, years ago.
