I wonder if this was it or there is more work they are undertaking for BG, either way they have a working an perhaps growing working relationship with BG since may 2009.

    ------------------------------------------------------------
BG turned to Fulbright and Mallesons for its contract with CNOOC. When the two companies entered into a preliminary agreement a year ago, Fulbright served as lead counsel to BG. Stefan Ricketts, head of the firm's energy practice in Hong Kong, joined the firm in January 2008 after stepping down as BG's general counsel. Ricketts and Fulbright senior associate Ben Smith advised BG up until May 2009, when the preliminary agreement with CNOOC was announced. A Fulbright spokesman says that after that time the firm no longer had a legal advisory role for BG for the transaction with CNOOC.

That's when Mallesons took over, with M&A partners James Fahey, Joshua Cole, and senior associate Craig Rogers advising BG on CNOOC's equity investment in BG's Curtis Island project and contract for one of the largest LNG sales in Australian history. The firm is no stranger to LNG deal work. Mallesons advised Chevron last summer on a $41 billion agreement with Petrochina to supply China's largest oil company with LNG from the Gorgon field off Australia's northwest coast. (China's interest in cross-border natural resource deals have been a boon to the M&A practices of Asian firms, reports Australasian Legal Business.)
