PUTRAJAYA, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Integrated security solutions provider, Nexbis Sdn Bhd, expects the Immigration Department to use its National Security Solution, called NexCode, soon to deal with illegal immigrant issues here.
Its chief executive officer, Datuk Seri Johann Young, said the solution, which took over two years to develop and cost over RM100 million, would improve cooperation between agencies and ministries to coordinate and share information in fighting identity document abuse to eradicate illegal immigrant-related issues.
"The ministry (Home Affairs) has not decided on the roll-out time. So we have to wait for them.
"But we are ready to go, so it is almost there," he told reporters after the launch of NexCode by Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, here today.
Young said the use of NexCode would provide Level 3 Security, the highest level available globally, to cross-referen on multiple sources of information to determine the true identity of a person.
"Our solution not only manages the normal immigrant-related issues, it will also provide links with other agencies, such as the police department, to combat crime. We can even link with other governments to prevent human trafficking or terrorism-related issues," he said.
He said NexCode was also designed to be accessed via mobile phones as it would give officers quick information needed while carrying out duty outdoor.
"This solution will empower the enforcement officer in the field, who would be in a remote area or does not have an access to a computer," he said.
Young said the Immigration Department would manage the implementation and running of the solution system, adding that the government would not have to spend more money and time to change existing security system.
"The beauty of our solution is, whatever they have today, they can re-use. There is no need for the government to spend more money to introduce an enforcement feature," he said.
He said the solution was already paying dividend to the group.
"We are already in other countries. Malaysia is just a small country whereas Vietnam is bigger and we are already in China too," he said. -- BERNAMA
