Have had my fair share.  Some (actually quite a lot) of them I have made money on by free carrying but have ended up going nowhere or a minnow of their former self in following months or years.  I still post on some of these.  My best ever successful company was a company at the time called OXR (0.6c initial buy ended going up to $3 before being bought out).  No-one believed in that company making it in Laos (because no Australian company had ever successfully mined there).  But the MD was a very smart character by the name of Owen Hegarty.  In speculatives you are generally invest in the management and the belief they are more likely to be successful than the next company.
