Macarthur Coal Ltd is looking at overseas expansion, in order to diversify the company's coal business and augment organic growth, Macarthur chairman Keith DeLacy has said.
"We started thinking when the RSPT (resource super profits tax) came out that maybe we should look overseas," Mr DeLacy told Alan Kohler on the ABC's Inside Business. "We've got a strong balance sheet... we will look at opportunities wherever they arise."
But the company remains firmly focused on organic growth, and is set to announce the development of its fourth mine before Christmas. In addition, Macarthur aims to introduce 9.2 million tonnes of coal by 2014, Mr DeLacy told Inside Business.
