M & G Investments became shareholders in White Energy when they, WEC, made a successful takeover of SAC South Australian Coal Limited in 2011. SAC was a subsidiary of Felix Resources Limited FLX that hived off SAC just before the completion of a takeover of FLX by Yanzhou Coal Limited of China in 2009. SAC was hived off due to their Phillipson tenement being partly in Australia's military zone.
