@techzilla if you are researching this because you are thinking that GXY and GMM will merge in the near future then I think there is quite a lot more info and history that backs up the continuation of things just as they are - a JV - not merged companies.
Read through some of the recent research on the GMM Charts thread from a few nights ago. In particular this one -
http://hotcopper.com.au/threads/gmm...get_post=true&direction=previous#.Vwe4qxN97UI
There is a very strong case that there is a Strategic Alliance between the companies that has persisted for a long while now (read some of that thread prior to that post).
This indicates a level of historic co-operation and co-investment that seems a very strong case that this alliance can continue without any formalising of it in a take-over or merge.
Even
@Thesimmos who was a strong proponent of that (if I may be so bold T') seems to now agree that this is less likely. ( or to paraphrase her "not quite yet").
GMM may indeed have the opportunity to be the first in line to buy into SDV. How that happens, when and if - are all up in the air - as is all this conjecture.
But... there is quite a lot of evidence and common history to suggest that GMM will remain independent and that the 2 companies can thrive within a JV.
Hope this helps.
