While sitting in the doc waiting room this morning I read something that I didnt know but I presume most who play this game do is the formula they use to calculate the DOW daily change - When Boeing tanked the other day I expected that would take the Dow down as its such a huge company which it did
But I thought the change would be calculated on the collective market CAP change of the 30 companies each day - -
I thought it would be like the ASX 50 where the top 10 companies have much greater weighting ( market capitalisation ) than the bottom 10.
Apparently the DOW index they add up the collective share prices of the Dow components then divide that by 30 to get the chart point movement
Am I the only dunce that didn't know that after all these years
