Npj, AC's investment approach is different from many. He is not as open minded imho because of his posting style and (2) not so adventurous because one time he said he only owned one stock and added a second, so it seems he only owns 2 stocks. He was very lucky with Gxy. But he is a LPD atheist. People who have trusted his views when he belittled the platypus in oct and didn't buy into LPD stuck with Gxy with a shameful 7% profit, sp currently $3.20 vs. $3 in October, and terribly missed out on 6 baggers that many of us here enjoyed (though it's down to 3-4 baggers now, if one didn't sell some at 7 or 8c. The way I see LPD, we have a few assets and LMAx. Ignoring the mining assets, LMAx will be a Zero or a mil scenario. So far, the people at the helm are delivering on a methodical way. Whatever ac says doesn't worry me. I'm comfortable to have about half of my holdings on LPD and this won't change unless LPD says "very sorry shareholders, we blew up LMAx." If anyone is worried, maybe a reduction in his exposure Or selling out would alleviate those worries.
Many people are selling whether their holding is a loss or gain to manage their tax liability. If they have losses elsewhere, they'd use their super profits from stocks the like of LPD to realise some gains now to spread tax exposure between current year and future year(s). In contrast, If they've lost money on LPD, they could be selling LPD at a loss to offset their gains elsewhere. Not to mention some may be reading into doomsayers comments regarding dark signs of the global economy. This contributes to overall weakness this time of year when almost everyone is doing this portfolio reviews. If little mum and dads are doing this, you can imagine the instos are also doing it in a much larger scale, more so in this time of year to prop up their bonuses.
