"SHUT-IN DRY HOLE -FUTURE UTILITY." This status is used for wells that are not productive but may be put to further use (i.e. as an injection well, conversion to a water well, etc). "Future Utility" does not mean the well will produce any minerals in the future.
Apparently almost all dry holes are initially reported as having "future utility," even if there really is none, because if the operator reported the well has having "no future utility," they would have to plug it within 90 days. Operators seem to kick that can down the road as long as the Office of Conservation will let them.
