Carbon-neutral targets must be a really hard call to meet for a power station. Gas is still seen as more eco-friendly than coal. Good effort with the trees to act as a carbon-sink.
The establishment of regional base load power will be a huge boost for the mining and other industries in the Mid West region. I understand quite a lot of electricity is lost in the process of transmission from the south, so regional power would prevent this loss. I would be really interested to see an audit of how many MW will be needed for the Mid West iron ore projects in their ramped-up phase. I read for instance, that GBG will use 100 MW of power down the track. Centauri 1 power station is proposed to be a 168 MW station. Can someone please tell me how many MW of power a 330 kV transmission line would carry? Sorry if that is so obvious but I am not technically minded.
