No, its that someone screwed up. And clearly no-one called them on it. Its good to work as a team, but complete answers need to be prepared even for question that seem like a "we'll take that as said" answer will surfice.
The little cattle farm can fall back on "its been a bad year". But being big you kind of can't use that unless you have no perspective on your diversification.
