CSC (similar IT/IS company to iSoft/IBA) built/deployed TOPAS for 12 WA metro public hospitals (multi-million dollar 6 year project which went on almost 8 years). Health systems are pretty complex if not scoped prperly, and my guess is Lorenzo will be far more intergrated or interfaced than TOPAS is/was. TOPAS is pretty clunky now and passed use-by date but still performs its function adequately for Inpatient/oupatient/EmergDept and waitlist activity for wa hospitals. (Oracle database on a Unix OS) The timelines on large-scale multi-user (> 1000 users) systems are long, much like a major mining ventures. The IBA takeover of iSoft took much planning and i am glad it eventuated to provide IBA with much needed synergy/upside. Once Lorenzo takes hold in NHS/UK, any Australian/other deployment should be a doddle for them. A slight concern i have with IBA is the high percentage of debt, (not too material compared to NHS 30 billion health systems expenditure) regards . . cam . . onwards and upwards for IBA (in the fullness of time)
