Hi Doug. Sorry I bring sad news to members. We are all keeping an eye on the New 7000’s release, and it looks like the mail I got about this late last year has run true to form. This is most unfortunate for all of us, as everyone I know, really wants a new style detector that is much-much better than our current machines.I had posted earlier that people should not rush in too soon, and at least sit back and have a few thoughts about it first. But I’m afraid the Gold Lust has got the better of many. Well I tried!!Time will tell as we all know, but what I have heard through reliable sources from both professionals and old hands right across Australia, and it is that they don’t like all their testing and field results. Strangely this seems to be a very consistent and similar outlook across the board. The only good results I have seen on forums are, of tiny to small pieces being found, some being at reasonable depths. The other reports are the dealer type ones or by their stooges, making absolutely ridiculous claims that everyone who has ever been seriously detecting, knows full well that they are posting a load BS. I had mates test it, and they all are sticking with their 5000’s, and after talking to them extensively, they said it is damn noisy and has a rough threshold, especially when you crank it up for the big deep gold. Then by doing this, it only gives a faint warble type whisper on most deep targets, and these ant farts are extremely difficult to hear over all that extra noise. The target responses are nearly always weak and wobbly over most objects including gold, when deeper than 6”ins. Most are unhappy with the big deep “Hot-Rocks” that it frequently picks up!So if it is run in Factory pre-sets, yes it runs very quiet, and with very little EMI noise etc, yet when doing this how much depth do you restrict it too, that’s anybody’s guess. There has been some trouble with the coil weight for most, no wonder you get a big harness set-up with it. If they ever get round to making the 18/20”inch coil that they are still talking about, the operators will need a hovercraft or wheeled trolley under it.Unfortunately these are but a few things I have been told so far, but I think the do-do has already hit the fan, as there are so many headless chooks running around at the present time.Cheer up please. Alluvium.Edit for grammar Luvy [/table]
