That is an energy upstream producer argument that you articulate. But under equity, why subsidize upstream through regulating midstream and downstream? If midstream and downstream get regulated, Australian domestic consumers will receive undersupply (oil and gas will just get exported to Asia) and noone will invest other than the monopolistic AGL/APA and that benefits noone in particular.
ORG, STO and SXY will no doubt double in SPs and Asian consumers will obviously benefit from all the LNG out of Gladstone into Asia but where is the equity in all of that? AGL and APA will probably have to merge back into each other and CLP will leave its EnergyAustralia albatross with noone benefitting at all. You definitely do not need that IMHO but pls DYOR.
