Great summary. Some of the managers sadly have not changed that much.  

Dean Lewsam CEO of imaging has been head of Victoria and before then head of various roles for nearly 18 years tracking back even before Ed Bateman bought the various companies and amalagamated them. 

Managers under bateman were typically told to do a single task and not deviate. Deviating from instructions led to instant dismissal. That mentality has flowed through over the years and still permeates throughout the imaging division courtesy of its leader Dean Lewsam. Innovation and staff initiative is stymied and costs are slashed at the expense of all else. Hence the ageing infrastructure and long term IT deficiencies.
