well you might struggle with the concept -- but, that is exactly what the makers of it are heading for.
do you seriously think if they perfect it that it won't go commercial if the price is right?
it will come with some tamper proofing and laws to protect --------- effective or not ---------- you won't stop commercialization if you have a product that never needs charging, lasts 50 years and has an abundance of power for transport and mobile applications that puts solar and other forms of storage in the shade.
there isn't one technology I can think of that hasn't been used - except for technologies that have been swept up by competing technologies and put under the counter and forgotten.
If we build it -- we use it.
I wouldn't have thought we would drop atomic bombs on civilians either --- but, we did.
