you didn't read the article properly. The idea was not meant to be for in-house charging. It was meant to bring electric cars in line with the time it takes to pump gas. I.e. you would goto a specifically designed 'charge station' and pay $5 and fill your car up in 4-5mins then leave.
The other benefit of the new batteries compared to the current graphite is that they are cheaper, can hold more charge (i.e. longer distance on your car), they hold charge better and they last longer.
The kicker is that current batteries can use this nano-tube gel in their current battery production (in place of where they would normally put graphite) and it will work with less additives saving even more costs. TiO2 is really abundant also.
