Why?
Partly. because we are trying to run a country internal (domestic) legal/tax system in a very rapidly increasing external GLOBAL world system, and the laws/policies are not keeping up.
Also, partly, we are straddled with archaic industrial age laws/systems in a rapidly changing technological world, and, once again, we are failing to keep up.
And, also partly, medical advances and knowledge of ourselves are racing ahead at a faster pace, and laws/policies are failing to keep up.
(just an aside on that last point, I found it ironic that the Super Funds Industry was having a conference about leaving wills and managing estates, the very same week that the UNSW was having a conference on living past 100, with the final discussion about the possibility of living to up 150 years of age .)
