tough one. no ones running a mine in Malaysia is going to call out corruption or redtape. risk is relative in questionable regions as its about knowing the right people... if you do.. no risk... but your opex will probably appear a little higher.
malaysia specifically is not horrible imo opinion, if your baseline is the DRC. labour is cheap and logistic can be easier. that said permits may just vanish if you dont play the game.... ATC look to have a pretty brutal dude at the helm, i can imagine him stealing childrens candy and laughing.
so yes definitely the market often prices in soverign risk, as its called, but malaysia is not considered that far off Australia in terms of economic risk.
