That where we beg to differ. So authoritative in bold.
EV/Solar/batteries WORK and they work NOW.
(So do fuel cells & Nuclear energy - whats your point?)
BUt they don't yet work for how mankind wants power deliver.
Double or triple the current efficiency for solar & batteries with a 10 fold improvement & its still not good enough.
You, me the shops owners, business don't want to be dictated to when when can use power.
We want more power, cheaper. Do you really think South Aust is on the right path?
If so bottle the formula & apply it tho the whole of Aust...who then steps up for the base load when it is cold, dark & still.. It's still the the dirty old gas & coal burners that keep us in the lifetyle that we crave.
The new shiny power power deliver produce nothing when you need it most ... the coming electric cars coming will have a voracious appetite for energy.
Elon must love you.
The battery in SA is see for what it is & can't deliver (FWIW was never designed to deliver base load).
10 years down the track & you are now replacing that battery with what a $250M battery which at best can deliver 2 minutes based load.
It has a place in the energy mix, but don't think for a minute it is currently the panacea for our energy woes.
I too & not a greenie, but have solar power..why..because it makes sense (only because of the subsidies that are paid by the government - via the very taxes we pay). But I still can't boil a cup of tea & make my toast in the morning or cook tea at night or type this email with the power that it delivers & if I want batteries to do so, when then that works out to be economic suicide.
