re: bula production...help please... I find very puzzling, the mechanics behind Bula and how it continues to recharge itself...

In fact, I think it might be the only field in the world to do so!

First dicovered in 1896, Bula has produced more than 19 million barrels since production began in 1919.

Now here comes the weird part...the total reservoir size has been generously mapped at just under 5 million barrels!

What the...???

Even stranger is that the field decline curve has actually turned up...not something you see every day!

Current production is from shallow Pleistocene sands, which it appears are continuously being recharged from deeper source rocks, probably Jurassic?

I have been trying to find details about historic drilling at Bula, but have not been able to determine if any deep exploration wells have ever been drilled.

I know the Bula PSC contract only extends to 600m below sea level, but one must ask the question...why not drill an ultra deep exploration well, or two, if only to find out what's down there?

For all they know, they may be sitting on the mother of all reservoirs!

Does anyone know if any deeper exploration wells have ever been drilled?
