Much of what has been said by Kenworth and Volvo have been in existence for a long time e.g exhaust braking, propeller shaft braking via like an opening and closing clamp, trailer braking (when I was teaching semi-trailer driving I showed my students how to use the trailer brake in conjunction with the gear changing), what these major truck manufacturers have done is to refine the systems and with the Bendix system so very much like the SIBS system.
ABV have been manufacturing for a long time now so it would be interesting to know how long others have been working on their refinements and testing and something else that this article states they are being fitted at the production stage of which we have spoken about.
One other thing and that is the higher speeds on downhill roads of which I am not in favour of because the tyres have to be able to cope with the added pressure on them so tyres have to be in extremely good condition, the same applies to stopping distance. If you've seen news that has come from the U.S where trailers have lost grip and have spun out of control on icy roads, admitted driver error does come into it.
