I don’t make any claim to understand the political system in Australia but I have the impression that a determined state government there can swim against the false tide of a backward looking central government.
The size of the country, with the vast distances between towns and small populations
Looks to lend itself naturally to micro grid solutions. I get the impression that that people who live far away from the political center have not necessarily been well served by the current system, particularly as regards power outages. This may have served to build some grassroots consensus for change, yes?
With a little bit of devout pragmatism we should come out all right.
