i don't know anything about YOWIE, and YOWIE don't know anything about me.
but it caught my eye in the forum recently, and this has translated into me noticing it at the shops.
positives - front of counter location at K-Mart which was a crappy dish type stand, and at Target which was a very eye catching vertical stand.
the positives stopped there because i saw the price of $3.49 i think for a gob smackingly low 28 grams of chocolate.
MOVING ON IMMEDIATELY. i ain't paying $3 for some cr@ppy toy on the inside and my kids won't be getting it.
YOW has a great presence, and without knowing what management are planning its location is at the right spot of the store for impulse purchases, and it obviously has a good distribution network in place to provide the product to these big name stores.
the problem therein lies with the product itself and the question you may want to ask yourself is what price do we value YOW's distribution network/in-store presence to get a grasp on some relevant current valuation measures for the company?
this product belongs in the hands of some guru marketing/creative team who know their stuff, or some coked-up consultants or trust fund cowboys looking to churn and burn this thing into action.
the simple dynamics of $3.50 for 28 grams of chocolate will not work. the product needs to change and a big question will be whether the product stays YOWIE or whether it morphs into something else.
in the right hands this thing is cheap, but if it continues to burn cash it ain't.
