No relevance to reality here, but say there is a very rare occurrence that say happens 1 time in every 10 normally. But happens 10 out of 10 in a small trial - surely one doesn't need 379 subjects to achieve statistical significance, given that the likelihood of that occurrence happening is 10,000,000,000 to 1.
