Well I don't have a legal background, just reproducing the posts others have written here on this topic. But you'd have to think there's a very good reason why people have not done this already, considering it is the first thing people holding this debt usually thinks of. Who knows though, you may be right, that could be a valid way to rid yourself of the installment payments.
