Well please lets have the SP fall to $12 or less. I will be a super keen buyer at that price and never sell possibly. Shorts have been wrong all the time.
It is easy to mentally overweight the highly publicised cases when the short side have been right (google availability bias), as they gained a lot of publicity. I remember JBH in June 2012 when shorts were over 20% (from memory). SPO was 6% shorted in Mar 2017 (I was one of them - lol). Also there is the big Herbalife short case in the US that went pear shaped. It is really a case by case situation. Those with short positions are just as fallible as those with long positions. There were huge shorts in STO, and US oil producers etc not long ago and these positions have been torched.
This VGI case is very flimsy/amateur IMO - they are only making money off the psychology of the market, as they have successfully generated uncertainty. Surely they knew their case was flimsy as well, as they didn't wait for a response before publishing, to sort out their points.
