I have gone down the route of buying and selling this stock before. Its all in the amount of CGT you have. Long-term holders probably have too much invested in unrealised profits to jump into the buying and selling mode. I stopped when it ran up one day and I lost out and it took me about 4 months to decide it wasn't coming back down.
I do think I miss out as there was a stat that said the patient people can normally buy the same stock at the price they want at least twice a year and in fact, I think they said it trends up and down 4 times on average.
If you set the price @$17.00 ( yes a bit of hindsight ) It was $18.84 a year ago - dropped to $16.51 on 19 Jun and $18.48 on 11 Sept dropping to $16.01 on 2 Oct and $17.81 on 2 Jan $16.81 on 12 Feb and $19.01 on 16 April.
I, however, am useless at setting the right channel for buying and selling but there must be many out there that can do it. Probably easier in stocks like SOL.
I am still waiting for a sub $16.00 top-up - lol
I think its overpriced right now
