We haven't seen any announcements about batteries for ages which makes me think that nothing of substance has at present yet been achieved. There is a fair lead in time from proven concept to commercialisation in this area so I would have to say that whatever eden innovations has up its sleeve re battery technology, it's a long, long way from bringing in any bikkies. If there has been some sort of breakthrough then we would have been informed as that would have been market sensitive information.

With batteries we are looking at increasing the capacity so that vehicles can travel further between charges and also at decreasing the time it takes to charge. One goal is to reduce the charging time to something comparable to filling up with petrol. That dream is not so far away. Talga, another Australian company has got it down to 3 minutes. Fisker have been spruiking a one minute charge which has something to do with using capacitors. That latter claim, which, if true, still wouldn't be available till 2023 people say. All this is pretty exciting as currently we are looking at well over an hour to charge at specialised charging stations.
