Hi, it is actually the opposit : the larger the flakes, the more scarce and highly demanded in the market, the higher the price and the lower the competition.
Take for example expandable graphite, it is a booming market where prices can go up to 50.000$ per tonne and increasing rapidly due to higher demand growth and limited supply (more than 40.000tpa and growing) that uses exclusively large flakes starting from 80mesh+ up to 50mesh+ and 35mesh+ (the larger the flakes the greater the expansion ratio).
Basically every elctronic device uses heat shields composed of graphite foils (made of expandable graphite), every iphone, every samsung galaxy, every video game console, every TV made...etc you get the idea !
Expandable graphite is also used as a flame retardant insulation, another booming market in the building sector.
Graphite paper is made from expandable graphite (high heat resistance, corrosion resistance, elasticity) is highly used in different industries.
