Your premise seems to be that having lost the Mining Lease and faced with the loss of the Exploration Lease BCL should have just laid back and thought of England. Putting aside the ABG and National Government ownership, 27% of the shares are in the public domain. The company has a duty to these shareholders to support their investment in the company. Taking its bat and ball and going home is hardly an option that will appeal to these shareholders.
The statement by the young leaders is somewhat prescient because this will be the group that had its future ripped from under them (led by the actions of Miriori, Momis and of course others) when the mine was forcibly closed, civil war broke out and economic activity, health and education services and social function as it was largely ceased to exist for years and in reality is still in limbo. It's an insult to refer to this group as someone that BCL has "trotted out". These are the people that really do have skin in the game ...
