That is just wrong. The family home attracts CGT if you are renting it and or you dont live their. If you dont live there its still the family home but not the Principle place of residence. Ive been through this personally when I moved back to my own home after being away for several years so I have personal experience with the whole system. I moved back to my home and had to live their for a number of years before I could sell it and avoid CGT.
