There have been several posters on this thread claiming that this trial is not “ statistically significant “ which might be incorrect. Just because the trial only had low numbers of participants does not automatically follow through that it’s not “statistically significant.That assumption is far to simplistic.
If the size of the shift is large, the trial can be “statistically significant, with low numbers of participants.
If the shift in expected outcomes was significant, as in all patients were expected to die before now, but they are still alive, that can be “statistically significant “ because of the size of the shift in outcomes.
If all patients gastric cancer patients were expected to die within 6 months, and 80% were still alive at 12 months, with some showing further improvements and one being a complete responder, with an incurable disease , then the trial is “statistically significant “.
There are several parameters to be factored in, not just size of the trial. One thing is certain big pharma will have experts running those numbers.
