    I suspect they are going to "fix" the issue by mothballing one of the GLNG trains. It's pretty obvious they can't sustain two trains even temporarily, much less for 20 years. And by mothballing one train they will get the federal government off their back because they won't be drawing from the domestic market.

    Kogas and Total are partners in GLNG so it actually benefits them if production is curbed. Because there is much cheaper LNG available on market and if they force GLNG to provide it at whatever cost, they get the LNG but they also get the bill for cost of production. Better to leave the gas in the ground and if the LNG price recovers sufficiently in future, or a major new source of gas becomes available, they can restart it.

    It will mean another major writedown to the project, but that's a given by now. GLNG will go down as one of the worst corporate decisions in Australian history IMO.
