I think what orbiter was getting at, is its not just the gold price alone that decides whether a gold mine becomes profitable or not. You also need good management, controlled costs and doing a lot of homework beforehand i.e with models taking into account all the risks that could affect the gold mine during the term of its operation.
As you can see there are many gold juniors that have failed miserably at doing this i.e MON, VRE are just a few - and i think management is to blame for most of this because you need to make sure you have proved up enough ounces before going into production - something many have failed miserable at, instead they have all rushed in.
Im a very big fan of Gold, but there are i think a lot of gold players out there that just wont make it IMO.
