Maybe  the Saudis concluded that because Turkey is now a democratic dictatorship the Turks would quietly sweep this event under the carpet.

The only certainty is that Turkey's intelligence services (MIT) would maintain a very close eye and ear to everything that happens in Saudi consulate offices.  MIT  would know.   Why would anyone think otherwise?

Executions by all sides in Turkey's civil war are common both inside and outside of Turkey's borders BUT the Khashoggi killing may  serve a belated wake up call for Turkey.  Turkey has a choice.  The country can either return to a proper rule of law or it can follow the examples of the House of Saud.
