Key staff, page-2

I have been wondering about stuff like this - how any company in the services industry would maintain key expertise and culture during a downturn. All the cutting of wages and staff will have to affect morale and I can imagine, some people having invested a lot of their lives in the profession, could give up and either quit or turn on the zombie mode. Even when things turn around, you can't just hit a switch and become high calibre in short order. Market capitalism does come at a high human cost.
