How am I clutching at straws?
You were the one that made a point of Piepgrass's credentials, also the one that said he couldn't comment on ASX announcements.
My enquiry to you was aligning with him not being recognised by the Australian JORC reporting standards, whereas I would tend to disagree that he cannot comment on ASX announcements.
Holding a BSc in Geology would make him a competent person and as such
needs to be aware of ASX listing rule Chapter 5
-
Competent Person Requirement
5.22 - Subject to rule 5.23, a market announcement by an entity containing exploration results or estimates of mineral resources or ore reserves in relation to a mineral mining project must state
(c) the name of the
professional organisation of which the competent person is a member.
As well as being aware of "Guidance Note 31" and also be aware of the relevant regulatory environment (ASX listing rules in this case)
But the definition of a "competent person" under the JORC code would certainly cover Piepgrass being able to comment for GPP's announcements.
Definition of a Competent Person under the JORC code must be
a) a Member of Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy
or
b) a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists
or
c) a Member of a "
Recognised Professional Organisation"
As well as the person must have a minimum of 5 years experience working with the style of mineralisation or type of deposit under consideration and relevant to the activity which the person is undertaking.
International Reciprocity of Competent Persons
In 2003 The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) introduced a procedure for identifying "Recognised Professional Organisations" as accredited organisations to which Competent Persons must belong for the purpose of preparing reports on Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves for submission to the ASX (if they are not member of the AUSIMM or AIG)

Although I am unable to determine what "Recognised Professional Organisation" that Simon Piepgrass, P.Geo belongs to, the fact that he has a post-nominal title re:
P.Geo indicating he would be a member of one of the listed organisations.

So
IMO only Piepgrass would be eligible to comment on drilling cores......
