I was being facetious when I said President Trump & Premier Xi lay awake at night wondering how to crash the copper market
And I know China requires a tremendous amount of copper for its own domestic use. It’ll continue to do so regardless of what happens with the tariff dispute imbroglio
My point is, China exports a large volume of copper products to the US. Tariffs will curb this export and reduce Chinese demand for copper overall. Anticipation of this happening has led to the big falls in copper prices over recent months.
Its not me who ‘sensationalises’ this issue. Its a consensus view of commodity dealers and equity market participants all around the world.
