China has ordered industrial companies, including steel mills, to curb output for four months from mid-November. But other cities have implemented the production cuts well ahead of that deadline.
Some 14 steel mills in Wu'an city in China's top steelmaking province of Hebei have been ordered to cut production to 50 percent of their blast furnace capacity from Oct. 7 to tackle air pollution in the area, Macquarie said in a note, citing Mysteel consultancy.
Its only a matter of time before China restricts the use of iron ore below a certain grade !!
In the future we will probably only see China using 62 % plus ore to allow them to reign in the pollution problem that is only getting worse ATM .
I believe that is why we are seeing the increase in cost for higher grades at the moment , the market is always 12 months ahead of what is coming !!!!
China will not sit idly by as is shown with electric vehicles , when they go they go hard - all public transport in china now powered by electric vehicles ( nil pollution )
