If DHL continue to just want to pick and choose their distrubutor ranges within the PBS structure they will fail in the longer term. DHL have to get serious and become a full line wholesaler (probably by aquisition of Sigma or API)or get out.
There is significant pressure (from several fronts) being put on the government to regulate that all PBS products must be made available to full line wholesalers that meet the CSO criteria (which is only API, Sigma & Symbion). It is only a matter of time (or a change of government).
The efficiencies of our full line wholesaler system have served pharmacy very well for a long time. It is a nuisance having to deal with DHL for supply of Pfizers ethical products and if other companies try and distribute outside "the system" as well it will become even a bigger pain in the neck in practical terms.
