    - The program has the option of building two mines. One of them, as Minister Kwieciński assured, is the Dębieńsko mine, which is inscribed there. We do not have any rights to the deposit today - emphasizes Ozon and reminds that the right to the deposit has a private investor.

    - I am positive about the possibility of building such a mine. Today, we are not a party and we are waiting if there will be a possibility that we can potentially join this project. All the more so because last year Europe imported 6.2 million tons of coking coal, so this is a rare good in the European Union - adds the president of JSW.

The private investor mentioned by the president of JSW is the Australian exploration and production company Praire Mining Limited. The mine, which is located in Czerwionka-Leszczynach, managed mining until 2000. Then, in 2006, the plant was bought by the Czech company NWR, which had plans to reactivate the mine. The Czechs were granted a mining license for 50 years, according to which they were supposed to start mining until the end of 2018. NWR Karbonia (a subsidiary established by NWR to reactivate Dębieńska) bought it from Prairie Mining Limited in October 2016. The Australians applied a year ago for a change to the mining concession (it is a change in the date of commencement of mining), and the yielding of coal is partly based on the still existing closed mine infrastructure.

    - For now, we have not received any official or unofficial proposals in this matter, but we are open to cooperation with Polish capital. We have never treated Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa as an enemy and we do not exclude potential partnerships in the implementation of this project. Our actions fit in very well with the strategy of the Polish government when it comes to hard coal mining - says Mirosław Taras, vice president of PD CO sp. Z oo, a Polish daughter company belonging to Praire Mining Limited.

The second mine extracting coking coal, which was closed in the period indicated in the "Program for Silesia", is the Morcinek mine in Kaczyce. In the opinion of the President of JSW, this is a worse location for a new investment due to the worse quality of coal and access to the deposit than in the case of Czerwionka-Leszczyn.
