Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (JSW) is almost ready to purchase the Karbonia company with mining license in the Dębieńsko mine from Prairie Mining, it results from the findings of "Dziennik Gazeta Prawna"
"I can only confirm that we are open to cooperation with Polish companies, which will lead to the construction of a coking coal mine and the creation of thousands of jobs in Poland," said Chairman of Prairie Mining Ben Stoikovich.
Prairie bought a mining license for Dębieńsko in 2016 from the NWR bankruptcy for EUR 2 million, the newspaper reminded.
"It does not seem, however, that Jastrzębska would agree with the Australians regarding the purchase of their second project - the Jan Karski mine planned in the vicinity of Bogdanka in the Lublin region," we read further.
Prairie announced in February that her research shows that there are deposits of coking coal in the planned mine.
"It could be interesting for JSW - the company is already the largest producer of such a raw material in the EU, which is a base for steel production." Our contacts close to JSW argue that coal from Karski is too heavily sulphated. This reduces the attractiveness of the project "- wrote the daily .
At the beginning of February this year Prairie Mining Limited said that it conducted preliminary talks with Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (JSW) on cooperation. According to information published earlier by "DGP", JSW may have been interested in the purchase of a Dębieńsko coking coal mine project from Prairie. JSW confirmed then that a meeting on cooperation was held.
Prairie Mining Limited is a prospecting and mining company carrying out two investments in Poland - the Jan Karski Mine in the Lublin Coal Basin and the Dębieńsko Mine in Upper Silesia. Is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2015.
The JSW Group is the largest producer of high quality coking coal, type 35 (hard) and a significant coke producer in the European Union. The company has been listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2011.
