Creates liquidity in the market and helps share price discover true value faster the experts say and for that, apparently, we should be truly greatful. But if the shorts drive something well below fair value (lets face it buyers can equally drive things well above fair value) then the patient holder can be tipped out due to his/her own investing rules, stop positions, margin calls etc etc. B-st--ds with a capital B mate...
And, whats in it for the lender? They take a fee and we all know how bankers love to seize every fee they can... so why would they do it? Because, if they don't, some other insto will collect the fee and the sp will still end up in the same position.
I suspect the current rally may be short positions closing out as they found resistance around 15c and can see a risk of a sentiment changing event in the near future.
