Boulder Steel jobs likely for steelworks in Gladstone

Gladstone's State Development Area said that the company proposing a AUD 4 billion, the project could be built with
majority local labor and contractors.
Boulder Steel has been in Gladstone for the past 2 days, meeting with local contractors to discuss construction and
maintenance contracts.
Mr David Simpson chief of BS said the meetings coordinated by Gladstone Engineering Alliance, were the first step in
gauging local interest.
Mr Simpson said that "We are confident that most of the construction skills and services are available right here in Central
Queensland."
Boulder Steel has submitted an Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Mt Larcom plant, which would produce 5
million tonnes of steel for export every year.
The 30 month development could create 2000 jobs, and BS said that construction could start in 2015, with final investment
pending.
