I want to be off grid. So I only need one Powerwall to cover my needs? Pardon my french but that is BS.

You make the assumption that the sun will shine tomorrow.

Get a few grey days, monsoon etc & if off grid you are in a world of hurt.

You need to build in redundancy, or do you still buy that 8 KVa diesel generator ...just in case.

I will need a minimum of 6 Telsa Powerwalls (8 would be better) in order to keep my life style, build in dedundancy & have more than one nights cover & not have to count KW's. I don't care, nor have to care with current grid connection..it just works.

The 6 Powerwalls might seem like over kill, but you need redundancy.

Kwh is one issue, but you also need to look at peak current draw (as you turn on an appliance) & how deep you want to cycle your battery pack.

In my case every time you use the tap, a pump kicks in etc. The system needs to be big enough to cater for that as well

Plus I need to ramp up the number of panels I have to keep the battery pack charged (my 5kw roof pack just doesn't do enough to cover daily usage & keep the packs at full charge).

Economically not viable.. Or have all the solar experts that have been out to see me got it wrong, despite wanting to sell me their wares??

Yes, they will try to see you one pack saying it will do this & that...

Just ask a couple of questions & you get their response of you wan to do what???????

Have the lights on & the TV & the Fridge & the oven & the hot plates & the air conditioner...........all at once.......Who does that??? No,No all you have to do is turn off a few applicances so that you can run one or the other NOT both at the same time.

If I want to cook on the oven, boil a cup of water, have 1/2 a dozen lights or so, on withe air conditioner (or heater running), whilst washing or running the dryer & poolpump, & don't want to count Kw's then I need more than one.

And if you are not in an ideal situation / orientation/ have trees around then it is nigh on impossible to have enough solar panels.

If you think one Telsa power wall will get you home then you must be like the other reader that is a vegetarian, sits in the dark & (doesn't eat raw meat) but eats half cooked carrots (no offense intended).

I certainly don't want a brown out to wreck all my precious electronic gear so need a UPS to boot.
(My stereo system will draw near 2 kw cranked up (no I don't run it that hard) - but it does pin your ears back when you do

In reality one Telsa simply can't cut it & the beauty that once off grid I have to replace these batteries every 10 years.
Elon & I would be joined at the hip & he could then afford his cannabis habbit (lol).

I can't go off grid (economically), technically, if money is no problem & I don't care about bang for buck then it could easily be done. Being green isn't cheap despite all the free power I generate.

Should a green senator want to subsidise my battery pack then that would be great (This is the only reason I have solar, was due to the Govt subsidy & feed in tarriffs at the time).

Economically it doesn't even make sense to have ONE Telsa battery, other than fluffing you up a bit.

Happy for you to come around & do a quote to prove to me that these other solar business don't know what they are taking about.
